Wines to watch: Chilean pinot noir

5 Tasting Notes

The JamesSuckling.com tasting team work their way through nearly 1,000 wines in Chile in February 2020.

In our recent tasting trip to Chile we tasted nearly 1,000 wines and we were reminded why Chile is such an exciting winemaking nation today. Chile arguably makes the best value wines in the world at the moment – we could write all day about good quality wines that cost less than $20 a bottle from Chile (check out these recent reports on great value carmenere wines and great value carignans).

But the country continues to prove itself as a supplier of premium wines too, and no matter the price, some of the pinot noir wines we tasted recently should be on your to-buy list. These wines are not yet on the market, but having tasted them early we think they will be a match for anything from Oregon, Central Otago or Adelaide Hills once released.

We are lucky enough to be able to taste, rate and review many wines well ahead of their market release date. We will be posting more ‘upcoming wines’ each week – so watch this space!
