Hong Kong’s Wine & Dine Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary on the harbor front of the island attracting more than 100,000 people over the four-day event from October 25 to 28. It is now the largest consumer wine and food event in Asia.
It was also the event’s biggest ever for exhibitors with more than 450 stands. JamesSuckling.com and James Sucking Wine Central were front and center at the premium wine tasting part of the event in the air-conditioned pavilion with hundreds of different wines to taste by the glass. All the wines were from wineries attending the sold-out Great Wines of the World event at the Hong Kong Grand Hyatt Hotel on Friday, November 2.
Links Concept, one of the leading Hong Kong wine importers, shared the stand with James Suckling enterprises. It was the largest in the pavilion by twofold. Even Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Carrie Lam, and Peter Lam, chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, visited the stand and tasted a 100 point 2015 Bordeaux.
“We greeted thousands of people at our stand this year,” says Anne Krueger, head of Asian operations for JamesSuckling.com. “People were interested in an array of wines from Argentine malbec to Tuscan sangiovese. We had our best selection of wines ever.”
James Suckling Wine Central, the new wine bar and fine Korean restaurant recently opened by James and his wife Marie in Central Hong Kong, is currently running a special Wine & Dine promotion with more than 50 wines by the glass with ratings of 96 points or more. All the wines are offered in tasting proportions at the same price as Wine & Dine. The promotion will continue until Wednesday, October 31.
“We have supported Wine & Dine for five years now as we believe in promoting Hong Kong as the wine center of Asia,” says James Suckling, CEO of JamesSuckling.com and a resident of Hong Kong. “This year we saw many local wine lovers but the increase in consumers from Mainland China was significant as well as other countries in Asia such as Korea.”
Next year’s Wine & Dine will be at the end of October and JamesSuckling.com and James Suckling Wine Central will be back. See you there. —JamesSuckling.com staff
