2008 Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Chassagne-Montrachet

I love cold white Burgundy at the beach. I like them fresh with bright acidity and clean, minerally, fruity flavors. That’s why I threw in my bag a couple of bottles of village 2008 Burgundy and headed to Penang for a break with my girlfriend this weekend.

The 2008 Bachelet-Monnot Chassagne-Montrachet shows wonderful lemon peel, dried apples, minerals, cream and light meringue. Some may find it too tart but I really enjoy the brightness to the wine. It’s so lively and fresh. It’s got tension. Just keeps you awake yet relaxed on a warm sunny day at the beach in the shade. I like how the wine changes in the glass too. The creamy, vanilla undertones come through as it warms up. I am 91 points on this one. Find the wine.

PS: If you go to Penang, stay at the Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa – chilled but classy and modern minimalist in style.
