[Video] Zoom Tasting With RdV Vineyards: Tenth anniversary special

19 Tasting Notes

This year marks the tenth anniversary of Virginia’s RdV’s first vintage. RdV Vineyards was set up in 2004 on a slope 60 miles west of Washington DC by Rutger de Vink and his wife Jenny Marie, and they are often referred to as the next generation of Virginia wine. Virginia is a top five state in terms of number of wineries in the US and it is where one of the country’s founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson, set up a winery in 1774.

James thinks they are one of the top Virginia wineries, and in his Zoom call in September 2020 with Rutger and Jenny Marie to celebrate the anniversary, they tasted the RdV Vineyards Virginia Lost Mountain 2013 and RdV Vineyards Virginia Lost Mountain 2014 while discussing some of their best vintages. In the video you can hear why they set up in Virginia instead of Napa Valley, and they also talk about how their wines have evolved over the last decade. You can also read some RdV tasting notes from the last decade below (subscribers only).
