[Video] Zoom Tasting With Frederic Weber of Bouchard Père & Fils
Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine houses, dating back to 1731. James first visited Bouchard Père & Fils in 1983 where he spent time with Claude and Jean-François Bouchard regularly while he lived in Paris. The greatest wine James had in his life was the Bouchard Père et Fils, La Romanée 1865, which he drank at lunch with Claude in 1988. Bouchard Père & Fils has just applied for an organic certification and is set to be the largest organic wine estate in Burgundy.
On October 14, James tasted some newly released 2018s and some re-released 2015s from the estate. He tasted the wines over Zoom with winemaker Frederic Weber, who explained how the wines come out of “the most beautiful collection of terroir in Burgundy.”
They discussed the 2018 vintage and tasted the Chevalier-Montrachet Domaine 2015, the Beaune 1er Cru Clos De La Mousse Domaine 2015, the Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières Domaine 2018 and the Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru 2018. They also talked about Frederic’s love of the “perfect 2015 vintage”. You can read the tasting notes for the wines and all the wines James tasted this year from Bouchard Père & Fils below if you’re a paid subscriber.
