The Super Tuscan/Bolgheri reds that just entered the market are fantastic, particularly those from the coast south of Pisa. Most are Bordeaux blends produced mainly from cabernet sauvignon with additions such as cabernet franc, merlot and petit verdot, but some are 100 percent varietal. James Suckling tasted about 1,000 to come up with 10 of the best.
