1967 Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas

This is a single quinta port that seems to get so much better with age. Single quinta ports come from one farm or vineyard instead of a blend of ports from different paces. They are usually made in slightly less great vintages and sell for a lower price for a “generally declared vintage.” I remember first tasting the 1967 Taylor’s Quinta de Vargellas in 1989 and it was always fresh and balanced as it is today. I was lucky enough to drink it the other night in Tuscany with a friend. The balaned port shows aromas of crushed berries and flowers, medium sweet and a long and persistent finish. It illustrates how 1967 indeed made some wonderful vintage ports including Cockburn and Martinez. 94 points.
