My Article: Tawny Port from 1882
In June, Graham’s released a tawny port that dates back to 1882, which is when the first member of the Symington family (owners of Graham’s) went to Portugal to work for the port house. Called Ne Oublie (Never Forget), there are 665 bottles of this 132-year-old wine, and the “bottles” are special decanters from the Portuguese glassmaker Atlantis. The port also comes in a leather box from Smythson of Bond Street. I tasted Ne Oublie a year ago and I have to say it is exquisite. It left me speechless, with electrifying richness and brightness, as well as fabulous pureness and clarity. It sells for €5,500 a bottle. See if it is a perfect fortified wine or not — click here.
