This January James Suckling and his team of tasters visited Burgundy to find some of the best quality wines from the 2015 and 2016 vintages. They visited wineries that offer wines that can still be found in Asia, despite the high demand for Burgundy worldwide. From the top to the bottom of this prestigious appellation, they tasted and rated more than 300 wines from a selection of the larger producers including Louis Latour, Louis Jadot, Faiveley, Joseph Drouhin, and Jean-Claude Boisset. Although the 2015 reds are impressive and packed with concentrated fruit yet firm tannins, the 2016 reds reveal more typicity and character. Burgundy lovers, you’ll probably fall in love with this month’s selection.
As always, we work with Asia Tatler to inform wine consumers, collectors and trade on what James is tasting, as well as our definitive selections each year. This May, Asia Tatler republished our tasting report on great Burgundies from the vintages 2015 and 2016. For the full Tatler article in PDF, please click here.
