My Article: Tuscan White Wine and Some Labels…

I just finished tasting two-dozen whites from Tuscany. Let’s face it: Tuscany has never been known for serious whites. I believe the main reason is that Tuscan winemakers have not devoted enough time or energy into making serious whites. They have been too focused on their reds.

However, I have been tasting dozens of Tuscan whites in the last week or so in my office in Italy, and I have been really pleased with the number of outstanding wines that I have tasted.

Anyway, I will write more when I post my tasting notes on Tuscan whites.

This all said, I was curious what you think about this label?  Not sure it’s the right image for Tuscan whites, but it’s what is in the bottle that matters…

That label is awful. I personally enjoy Tuscan whites but I don't think many of them are worthy enough to be exported. Michele Satta's Vermentino is one of my favorites.

It looks like a bad hood ornament
I saw this wine in a Decanter feature I believe. I think they reviewed it favourably though. Still ugly as sin.

If i saw it in a store, I probably wouldn't take it seriously with such a flashy label. But I am sure I am not their target market.
