My Article: Beating The Heat

The Alto Adige region of northeastern Italy produces phenomenal whites reminiscent of the best of France. The flinty mountain soil imparts a unique mineral character, and the winemakers use a variety of grapes, from grassy sauvignon blancs to floral and fruity pinot biancos. Many of the wines are unoaked, with fresh, lively flavors showcasing the fruit, soil and microclimates. Here are my picks for a hot day on the beach or the boat.
