Mike D's Article: 2002 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault Charmes

I’ve had 2002 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault Charmes quite a few times, mostly in 750ml bottles, but also in magnums. It has proven to be surprisingly consistent for a Burgundy and reliably pleasurable. Tonight I had it at home paired with a delicious spaghetti vongole; one of my more favorite wine/food pairings. This wine always rocks with shell fish. Steely, stony, and creamy.  A floral bouquet of apricot and lemon zest, with hints of honey suckle.  Creamy and frothy like a latte. There is plenty of acid present, still sprightly and youthful and GTG. Certainly benefits from some air. Though I know some speculate that ’02 is an oxidized vintage for white burgs, not only have I found this not to be the case, but this bottle is young and charged like an NCAA b-ball tournament overflowing with energy. 95 points.
