My Article: Lost Computer on EasyJet!

It’s been a nerve-racking weekend. Sure I tasted some fabulous wines for the run up to VinExpo, but the main reason is that I left my computer on EasyJet from Milan to Bordeaux on Friday! I am still shaking my head in disbelief.

I didn’t think about it before I got to my hotel about an hour and a half after I left the airport. So I rushed back to Merignac Airport and asked the Lost and Found as well as Special Baggage departments if they found a computer on Flight EZY5233. They said they had nothing and I should check with Malpensa Airport in Milan. Why would the computer go back to Milan?

I figured it had been stolen. Think about all those unpublished tasting notes and everything else!

There was no reason why someone would not find it on the plane in Bordeaux – particularly the cleaners. So it had to be stolen. I was frantically trying to remember what I had in the computer that hadn’t been backed up recently. In fact, I hadn’t back up for a least a month when I was last in my apartment in Los Angeles – so dumb.

Rosanne from my office in Tuscany started calling various numbers at Malpensa as well as contacts in Milan on the lucky chance someone found it. She thought I would have a better chance at winning the Italian lottery. But low and behold, the Lost and Found office in Malpensa found it!

Apparently, EasyJet was furious that it wasn’t found in Bordeaux. The incident only proved that the ground staff in Bordeaux hadn’t properly cleaned the plane.

I was lucky enough to know that Piedmont producer Pio Boffa was on his way to VinExpo on Sunday and he was nice enough to take my computer with him. A few hours ago I picked up at the fair parking lot.

It was a long and nerve-racking weekend…but I am back and blogging and tasting…

Wao! You had very good luck. I have lost hundreds of things on airplanes, from I-Pods to wine bottles to clothing, and being an airline executive never helped getting them back.

Fortuna has smiled upon you this weekend. Try to relax and enjoy Father's Day and the coming week. I am looking forward to reading your notes... .

We're all lucky then. Now we have a chance to read all of those tasting notes and additional information.
On the other hand, it's a lesson for everyone. We all have to keep keep backups of what we have in our computers.

This weekend I left my laptop at the airport x-ray machine in Cincinnati Airport. It was purchased less than a month ago. I almost took a train to the terminal before realizing I forgot the laptop, and I was very happy that the TSA employees keeps the laptop for me!!! Whewwww....
