Hong Kong Wine Challenge: Champagne Etc

Continuing the James Suckling Wine Challenge on www.AsiaTatler.com with wine connoisseur Paulo Pong’s wine specialty stores in Hong Kong, James heads to Champagne Etc.

The Soho store has over 300 Champagnes that are rotated constantly to present shoppers with an educated and curated experience, encouraging the public to get to know Champagne beyond popular labels like Moët, Veuve and Krug. The impressive selection even includes older vintages dating back to 1921.

For the Wine Challenge, the wines must be:

– 90 points or above – priced under HK$1,000 per bottle – available for purchase at the named boutique

James then gives his own points for the wines selected and chooses a winner.

For this Wine Challenge, James is presented with two bottles of champagne: Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 1999 (HK$715, read note) and Marguet Grand Cru 2002 (HK$469, read note).

Watch the video above to see which wine wins the Wine Challenge at Champagne Etc and the scores given to each wine.
