It was incredible to be back in New York after two years away, and it was even better to have a wine event to share outstanding wines from 42 of the world’s best wine-growing regions from key countries such as France, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Australia, Uruguay, China, South Africa and of course America.
The second edition of Great Wines of the World USA was a gathering that set the tone for future events as we get past the pandemic: more than 2,000 people participated in the tastings over two days and four sessions. Wine producers, trade and consumers came together and shared some of the greatest wines made on earth.
The general vibe was really positive, with people appreciating the chance to taste and enjoy wine together. The crowd was young and vivacious. Some visitors traveled from such faraway places as Sweden, Japan and South Korea, as well as many major Latin American countries like Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Chile. Americans came from all over the states, including the West Coast and Florida and just about everywhere else.
Many people commented on the extraordinary wines being served – althogether there were 410, with most rated 94 points or more by James and his team of tasters. There were also eight 100-point perfect-scoring wines to taste.
Please check the JamesSuckling.com website and newsletters for information about upcoming events. The next event planned will be Great Wines of Italy in the United States, on September 8 & 9 – details will be announced next week!
