Fifty Shades of Grey – The Wine

The erotic romance novel-turned-film Fifty Shades of Grey is now widely known, but author E.L. James’ wine may not yet be on your radar. An avid wine drinker herself, E.L. has wine playing an important role in her famous story by using it to bring sensuality – there’s even a wine list on her website that describes which wine is present in what scene.

Furthering her enjoyment of wine, E.L. created a wine brand that also goes by the name Fifty Shades of Grey in conjunction with Mendocino Wine Company. Under this moniker, two wines are available: “Red Satin,” a blend of mostly petite sirah and syrah, and “White Silk,” which is primarliy gewürztraminer and sauvignon  blanc.

Click the wine names for James’ tasting notes and scores of these, and watch E.L.’s blending session below.
