Exclusive Sneak Preview: 5 Outstanding Super Tuscans

5 Tasting Notes
Super Tuscans

A phenomenal Super Tuscan, Marchesi Antinori Toscana Solaia 2015 scored a perfect 100-point.

I was lucky enough to have a sneak preview into five of the most exciting Super Tuscan wines last week in my tasting room in Tuscany. These soon-to-be-released wines include: Solaia, Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Tignanello and Guado al Tasso. And they all are incredibly exciting. Rated a perfect 100-point, Solaia is the best ever.

Super Tuscans

Could Marchesi Antinori Toscana Tignanello 2015 be the best since the legendary 1997?

Most of the quality can be attributed to Mother Nature, who provided an amazing grape-growing season in Tuscany in 2015. The year was hot and sunny during the day, and cool and breezy at night. It allowed the grapes to ripen to perfection if they were handled properly. And thus, they remained fresh and vivid with fine tannins and bright acidity.  “The 2015 was riper and more consistent than any year in recent history, even the excellent 2016,” admitted Renzo Cotarella, the general manager of Marchesi Antinori – the makers of Solaia, Tignanello and Guado al Tasso.

Check out the scores below. I recommend buying any of these wines, especially if you love Super Tuscan wines. Don’t miss out on 2015. It’s one of the best vintages in decades for the category which combines beautiful weather with great winemaking!
