I found a bottle of 2005 Renato Ratti Barolo Rocche in my cellar last night. I have always been a fan of 2005 Barolos. They tend to be round and fruity and show lovely finesse. Many are just beginning to open. The 2004s and 2006s are much more acidic and hard. Anyway, this was a wine that showed beautiful crushed berries and spices with hints of dried procini mushroom. I like the floral notes as well. It’s full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fruity, subtle finish. Drink or hold. 95 points.
