[Video] Zoom Tasting: Bodegas Muga

Rioja is one of Spain’s key wine regions which produces great and long-lived reds and whites that compete with the best of France and the rest in the world. Bodegas Muga is one of the leading producers in the region, and they have been making some great wines that reflect the entire typicity and authenticity of Rioja ever since its very beginnings.

James recently held a Zoom tasting with three of the brothers - Juan, Manuel and Eduardo - who run the family winery today. James has visited their winery almost once every year in the last decade. During the call, they tasted the Muga Red Selección Especial 2016, the Muga Red Reserva 2017, the Muga Rioja Blanco 2019, and James also re-tasted the Muga Rioja Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2011, which he previously scored 99 points. In this video you can watch them discuss their recent vintages, talk about how unique Rioja whites are, and see them speak about the identity of Rioja and the Muga philosophy.
