Super Tuscans – Prima Pietra: The Vineyard

Prima Pietra is a red wine produced by Castiglion Del Bosco, also known for its wonderful Brunello di Montalcino. It’s owner is Massimo Ferragamo of the fashion family. Prima Pietra is produced in Riparbella in the upper Tuscan Coast very close to Bolgheri. In this video Castiglion Del Bosco and Prima Pietra winemaker Cecilia Leoneschi, who works with consulting enologist Niccolo D'Afflitto, talks about the distinctive aspects of the Prima Pietra vineyard, mainly its exposition, its soil and its proximity to the sea. The qualities of this area and this vineyard make it an exceptional place for Bordeaux varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, which are precisely the varieties found in the Prima Pietra vineyard. These varieties seem to be wonderful communicators of the terroir in this part of the Tuscan Coast. For more watch the video and check out the astonishing view from the vineyard.
