Super Tuscans – Caiarossa: The Vineyard

Caiarossa is located in the Val di Cecina on the Tuscan coast. It is currently owned by Eric Albada Jelgersma, who also owns Château Giscours and Château du Tertre in Margaux, Bordeaux. Most of the vineyard is south-west facing with the sea in the horizon. The vineyard covers an extension of 16 hectares that are divided into 12 plots, each of these have been classified according to its soil type. There are 11 grape varieties planted in the Caiarossa vineyard, each of these varieties is planted according to the soil type that suits it best.
