Montalcino's Top Vineyards: Castello Banfi's Poggio All'Oro

Castello Banfi is one of the leaders of Brunello di Montalcino as the biggest vineyard holder in the region with more than 1,000 hectares planted. It is also one of the pioneers in clonal selections of Sangiovese, which it initialed in the early 1980s.

Banfi attributes the high quality of its single vineyard wine Poggio All'Oro to this research. In the video, Rudy Buratti, Banfi’s technical director, explains how massal clonal selection was first used to plant Poggio All’Oro and how the vineyard remains a hallmark of quality in the portfolio of Castello Banfi.
