Associate Editor Claire Nesbitt chats with Mathieu Senard, the commercial director of Domaine Comte Senard in Burgundy, about Burgundy's 2022 vintage. Senard said 2022 delivered concentrated wines with bountiful, high-quality fruit yields.
"2022 was a fine season overall, although we were very lucky not to experience the same thing as in 2021," Senard said. "It was a year where we had very little water in July and August, which was not optimal for the grapes maturing, but we were very lucky that we had some rain at the end of August right before the harvest, which was able to really let the grapes develop into what we needed to make a great vintage."
