Masseto is a modern legend for pure Merlot. The Tuscan cult wine is made on the coast near the town of Bolgheri on the estate of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia. It was first made in the late 1980s, but really came into its own – like many top Tuscan reds – in the late 1990s. The wine is made primarily from three vineyards; each is very close in soil and microclimate, but they are at slightly different altitudes. Check out the video to better understand the vines and the wine as I hangout with winemaker Axel Heinz.

I would die to see which palate I agree with considering its Merlot for me. Hopefully one day I'll be able to taste a wine worth a G'.
