Pio Cesare: 2008 Ornato Barolo

During his recent visit to Piemonte, James stopped at Pio Cesare to taste some of their wines. James was particularly impressed with the 2008 Barolo Ornato, a 100% Nebbiolo from three different plots of the Ornato estate located in the proximity of the beautiful town of Serralunga d’Alba. This area is well known for holding some of the finest vineyards in the Barolo area.

In this video James discusses with Pio Boffa, owner of Pio Cesare, the 2008 Ornato. For Pio it resembles other classic Barolo vintages, watch Pio and James’ give their views on this wonderful wine. Enjoy!

  1. Fascinating interview, especially to a bloke who's hunt has only been to find a poor man's Nebbiolo..
  2. JS says:
Don't underestimate Pio Boffa. He makes excellent Nebbiolo and his blended Barolos and Barbarescos are relative bargains.
