It's time to start revealing the results of the JamesSuckling.com 2013 Harvest Competition with our tenth runner-up: The merlot-famous Petrolo estate in Tuscany.
What struck us the most about this video was its minimalist, ambient, almost evil soundtrack. It didn't have the energy of some of our other entries, but combine the slowly changing music with some impressive scenery and close-ups of various stages of the winemaking process, and you get a good idea of a gradually evolving product.
Check out in particular shots of the must being pumped into a fermentation vat with only a small fluorescent bulb for illumination followed by the readying of the skins for pressing from 1:18.
The music doesn't really lead us anywhere in the end during the video, but ultimately this is the wine's job, and I look forward to trying Petrolo's whole 2013 range with a wetted appetite!
