Champagne: Louis Roederer – Precision in Winemaking at Louis Roederer

In this video, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, cellar master at Louis Roederer, explains how the famous Reims-based Champagne house became what it is today. Louis Roederer remains one of the few family-owned and managed houses in Champagne, which, as Jean Baptiste puts it, is testimony to the long-term work the house has been doing in the pursuit of quality and precision in their wines.

With more than 240 hectares of vineyards, Lécaillon explains how the house aims to make terroir-driven wines. The vineyards, which are all managed by Louis Roederer, have been further divided into 410 plots that are individually vilified in oak vats to maintain the singularity from each. Their ability to vinify grapes from each plot separately helps produce harmonious blends with components that remain faithful their origins.
