Brunello 2010 – The Vintage of a Lifetime – Valdicava

For Vincenzo Abbruzzese, owner and winemaker of Valdicava, the 2010 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino is the vintage of the century and certainly the best one he has ever made. Vincenzo has been making wine at Valdicava for more than 30 years; his intense dedication to the vineyard and clinical attention in each step of the process has made him one of the masters of Brunello. James describes his wines as “something mystical” as well as “perfectly crafted examples of Tuscan sangiovese.”

Vincenzo believes that 2010 has become a reference point in the history of Brunello di Montalcino. The lack of any climatic excesses combined with an extended growing season resulted in a wine that, while packing power and opulence, is elegant with each of its elements – alcohol, sugar concentration and acidity – in perfect harmony. For Vincenzo, the combination of these different qualities makes it one of greatest Brunellos ever made.
