I have been going to the island of Giglio off the Tuscan coast for more than 20 years and I have always been fascinated with it. It can be found 10 miles off the mainland of Italy, and is only about nine square miles in area. I have traveled there for a day trip by speedboat and even helicopter. It has a remote, laid-back, hippy-dippy vibe with beautiful steep granite rock faces against the sea and a few small villages. I remember one summer swimming ashore to have lunch on an isolated beach in a tiny restaurant. Another time I went fishing with my son - when he was about six years old - off a sailboat just outside of Giglio Porto. Plenty of good memories.

That’s why a few years back I was excited to hear that Bibi Graetz, the dynamic wine producer of Tuscany, was making white wine there – now one of the best of Tuscany. It’s called Testamatta Bianco and it’s produced from the ansonica grape. Check out Bibi’s harvest last year on the island. It will bring a smile to your face.
