James recently tasted 2008 Brunello di Montalcino and 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. After a full day of tasting, he met with Giancarlo Pacenti, owner and winemaker at Siro Pacenti, to ask him some questions about the two respective vintages. Giancarlo makes phenomenal Brunellos on the hillsides of the Tuscan town of Montalcino.
Giancarlo thought the 2007 Riserva was a very balanced wine, as well as rich and full. He found the 2008 to have good fruit and great acidity, but also believes it will require more time in bottle to soften the tannins.
