2006 Brunello di Montalcino: Siro Pacenti

Giancarlo Pacenti has been making superb Brunello di Montalcinos for decades at his family estate, Siro Pacenti. He is one of the leaders of his generation in advocating modern viticulture and precision winemaking. He uses vineyards on the south and north faces of the Montalcino slopes for his Brunelli. I stopped by Giancarlo’s small, clean winery a couple weeks ago to taste his 2006 Brunello, and get his comments about what may be his best red of his career. That’s why I scored his 2006 Brunello 97 points in my blind tastings in Tuscany. Giancarlo says that it’s all about the finesse in the wine and more.

Video too short, but what was there was good. James, perhaps in a future video you can taste several different vintages of Siro Pacenti and compare and contrast them. And, perhaps, you can have a give-and-take with Giancarlo Pacenti about how the various vintages tasted are similar and yet different. This would be a cool video. Siro Pacanti is an amazing wine!
