We tapped into some sterling Bordeaux wines during our tastings over the past week and also uncorked some stunning Philipponnat Champagnes. And our road trip into Serbia resulted in a few choice discoveries.

Our tastings of nearly 500 wines over the past week yielded some awesome 2018 Brunellos, surprising 2020 German pinot noirs and impressive Yunnan and Ningxia offerings.

We uncorked some pure and beautiful pinot noirs, chardonnays and cabernet sauvignons from Napa and West Sonoma Coast over the past week, and the historic estate of Immich-Batterieberg in Germany gave us two spectacular rieslings.

Most of our October tastings were taken up by Australian and New Zealand wines, in conjunction with our annual reports, but there was plenty more from Spain, South Africa and Germany.

We have raved about the drinkability of Paso Robles red wines, with the top cabernets flavorful yet classy and typical, and the great Rhone offerings rich, spicy and full of verve, but Paso Robles is also a region that truly delivers on value.

James hit New Zealand this week and straight away uncovered some incredibly structured Bordeaux blends from Puriri Hills. We also tasted some exceptional Margaret River chardonnays and found unique expressions from Spain’s Comando G.
