We rated more than 3,500 wines in March from 12 countries, and although we uncovered only a single 100-pointer, dozens of outstanding cabernet sauvignons, pinot noirs, malbecs, chardonnays and blends came out of France, the United States, Germany, Argentina, New Zealand and more.

The sheer variety at the top of our ratings for February is striking: we gave out perfect scores to six different types of wines from five countries. They included a chardonnay from Argentina, a syrah and two Bordeaux blends from Chile, a cabernet sauvignon from California, a riesling from Austria and a sparkling wine from Germany.

Our final tasting month of the year at JamesSuckling.com comprised 3,130 wines, with France and the U.S. giving us a whopping 1,456 and 781 bottles, respectively, and putting our final tally for the year at nearly 40,000 wines tasted.

Our ratings in November included a relative bonanza of perfect-scoring bottles – five from California and one from Germany – as we tasted more than 1,800 wines from 17 countries.

Although our October tastings of 2,017 wines didn’t uncover any perfect-scoring bottles, they did give us the chance to wax lyrical about Germany’s 2022 vintage, which gave us six of our top-rated wines during the month.
