2015 Hong Kong Wine And Dine Festival Oozes Excitement

The excitement was intense on the opening night of this year’s Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival on October 22, as the city welcomed 150,000 people on the first day at the Central Harbour Front where foodies were able to sample cuisines from more than 340 culinary booths and taste some of the best wines in the world from our Great Wines of the World booth inside Reidel Pavilion.

On the first day, more than 5,000 people visited the pavilion and the number was expected to surpass 20,000 when the pavilion closes on October 25, said Hong Kong Tourism Board, who organized the event.

We worked non-stop pouring and explaining each wine we served. The other booths in the pavllion were simply selling wines. We were impressed with the educated questions and the enthusiasm.

French and Italian wines still remain the biggest draw for consumers, but there’s a growing interest to taste and discover new wines from other parts of the world. It was interesting to notice that a huge number of consumers already have a good knowledge of wine, and are eager to ask pertinent questions about wine history, viticulture and terroir.

From Bordeaux’s most famous Chateaux including first growths Mouton and Lafite as well as La Fleur Petrus, Pontet Canet and others, to Italy’s legendary Bruno Giacosa and Sassicaia, all the way to Chile’s Seña and Napa Valley’s Dana and Peter Michael, these are among some of the top wines on pour at our Great Wines of the World booth, which serves as a preview for the upcoming namesake event to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel from November 5 to 6. Only a few tickets are left for sale. The Trade Session is oversubscribed.
