More than 1500 consumers and trade, 114 wineries attend the Great Wines of Italy USA 2016

March 3, 2016 @ 7:32 am

The 2016 USA edition of Great Wines of Italy showcased outstanding wines from 114 of Italy’s top wineries. The event was held in New York City (IAC Building, Feb. 23), San Francisco (Golden Gate Club, Feb. 28), and for the first time, Los Angeles (Petersen Automotive Museum, Feb. 25). Each location saw over 500 consumers and members of the trade attend to enjoy the best from one of the world’s top wine-producing countries.

With the LA location debut at the newly-reopened Petersen Automotive Museum, guests sipped from their glasses amongst a variety of automotive wonders on display, from a 250 GTO Ferrari to a McLaren F1. It was one of the most original locations to host a wine tasting, and one that wowed everyone in attendance.

To compliment the highly-rated wines on pour in each city was also a fantastic food display. New York City featured catering from Eataly, the famed Italian food market; in Los Angeles, Drago – owners of various top Italian restaurants in the city such as Drago Centro and Il Pastio – provided mouth-watering pastas alongside premium meats and cheeses; and in San Francisco, guests had bountiful catering by acclaimed James Beard award-winning chef Traci Des Jardins.

Music at all locations was courtesy of Surahn Sidhu, an accomplished Australian musician, who was the events’ DJ. As we wrote in our previous blog, Surahn toured the US last year with both Empire Of The Sun and Flight Facilities. He’s also worked with the likes of Usher and Kimbra, to name a few.

In addition to the fantastic wine, food and music, consumers also received a complimentary Lalique events glass, designed by James Suckling, to use for the day and later add to their home collection.

The photos below offer a glimpse into this year’s Great Wines of Italy USA. Enjoy!
