I shouldn’t generalize about Beaujolais Nouveau this year as I only tasted three different bottles in Hong Kong today in my office with my team, but I did taste 2017 Beaujolais from three top producers. So that counts for something! I find the 2017 Beaujolais Nouveau a little more polished and complete than the 2016. May be it’s a combination of the 2016 and 2015? Anyway, I really enjoyed tasting them. You should too!
Here are my tasting notes:
Jean Claude Lapalu Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2017
Plenty of berry and dried cherry character here with some slate and mineral undertones. Medium body, medium acidity and a fruity finish. Drink now. 91 points
Jean Foillard Beaujolais Nouveau 2017
This is really excellent with lots of lifted berry aromas with some stem and dried flower character. Medium body, round textured and delicious. Drink now. 91 points
Christophe Pacalet Beaujolais Nouveau 2017
Lots of fruit with a cherry and dried strawberry character and hints of blueberry pie. Medium body. Juicy and tangy at the finish. A little unfocused at the finish. Drink now. 89 points
