The name of the estate pays tribute to the different processes involved in winemaking and farming. Located in Valle Casablanca, the estate’s vineyards are just southwest of Santiago de Chile, only 20 miles away from the Pacific Ocean. The moderating effect of the morning fogs and afternoon breezes caused by the ocean’s proximity is key in the production of Ritual’s wines. The estate focuses on pinot noir, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, which need cooler temperatures in order to make wines that transmit a sense of place.
The pinots here have a remarkable clarity and beautiful, bright fruit reminiscent of great pinots from California’s Sonoma, while the sauvignons are derived from the careful selection of only the best fruit from the best blocs of the estate. The estate uses biodynamic viticulture.
As mentioned by James in the previous Big Chilean report, ” The appellations of Aconcagua Costa and Casablanca make excellent pinot noir with a purity of fruit comparable to the pinots of California or South Australia and a structure and freshness comparable to Burgundy”, the more exciting thing is that these wines will be featured in the upcoming Great Wines of the Andes USA 2017.
