Last Week on WeChat: Recapping Bordeaux Confidential

JamesSuckling.com believes in China as the most important wine market in the world, and so that is why we are launching a partnership with China’s state-owned wine merchant COFCO. We hope to promote wine education and popularise wine culture through our tasting notes, videos, reports, and other content, all of which COFCO will translate into Chinese. JamesSuckling.com is also proud to launch its own content and platform in Chinese, including WeChat. Below is a recap of activity on our WeChat, which you can follow at JSx名庄荟 or by clicking here.

May 26, 2017 was a big day for Jamessuckling.com as the start of Bordeaux Confidential En Primeur at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. The event, split into two sessions, was the world’s only chance to taste 2016 Bordeaux barrel samples outside of France. The event attracted the interest from over 1100 wine professionals (here’s a video).

The event was the culmination of 17 days of hard work in Bordeaux in March scoring nearly 1200 wines. With a selection of around 100 chateaux, Bordeaux Confidential covered all major areas in Bordeaux, including some of the most sought after names such as Château Pichon Longueville Baron, Château Figeac, Château La Conseillante, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, and Château Pedesclaux.

COFCO wine & wine is the exclusive strategic partner of JamesSuckling.com. Before inviting General Manager Castle Li on stage, James expressed his gratitude for all the support from COFCO. Mr. Li praised the Bordeaux Confidential event for giving participants a chance to taste en primeur wines without travelling to France. This approach is in line with COFCO’s vision: To promote and select wines worth trying for the Chinese wine community. Mr. Li also added that COFCO will benefit greatly from the collaboration with James, who is one of the most respected wine critics in the world. To that end, the COFCO team is busy translating JamesSuckling.com’s tasting notes, videos and tasting reports in order to set a benchmark for the Chinese wine community as well as bring James’s top rated wines to the market.
