2006 Auguste Clape Cornas

Auguste Clape Cornas is apparently a popular pour in wine bars and restaurants in Paris. I went to two places — Juveniles and Semmi — and both had it on their list. I know top Parisian restaurants always carry it. Years ago Auguste Clape told me that Cornas is great either very young or after 10 years old. So I had some concern how his 2006 Cornas would be last night. Well, it was delicious. It showed aromas of spices, meat and lead pencil. Black fruits too. It was refined and fruity, almost shy. The flavors were of earth, spice, fruit, and light barnyard. Yet it remained focused and defined. Delicious with the grilled steak we had. 93 points.
