Many people forget how beautiful the top dry white Bordeaux can be in a hot year like 2003. I have always been a fan, from Haut Brion blanc to others. I was down to my last bottle of the 2003 Smith Haut Lafitte at home, but decided to pour it for some friends who were having a simple dinner in my kitchen a few days ago. It was so delicious. It was wonderful and creamy with apple pie, lemons and light vanilla. It’s full and dense like a white Burgundy. Creamy texture. So fresh still for a hot vintage. 95 points. Find the wine.
