We found our winners for this year’s JamesSuckling.com 2015 Harvest Video Competition. The Top 10 videos will begin to be posted today – one per day.
We reviewed dozens of videos this year, and it was difficult to choose a winner because the overall quality of production was truly exceptional for each.
However, while some videos were produced spectacularly, our top choice went to Australia’s Head Wines with the video titled “Winemaker.” The winery won a set of six Neo-Lalique glasses by James Suckling, the new line of wine glasses primarily for wineries and restaurants that will be launched early next year.
While showing the harvest in the Barossa Valley in South Australia, the Head video also tells the story of how owner and winemaker Alex Head became involved in the word of fine wine. It actually transcends the world of wine itself by illustrating the accomplished winemaker’s reflections on making wine. This makes the video something anyone can identify with.
Our second pick came from New Zealand’s Two Paddocks, which is a winery owned by renowned actor Sam Neil. We chose it for its amazing aerial cinematography and its dramatic landscapes of Central Otago.
Our third pick was Bollinger for its impeccable account of the harvest by vineyard manager Gilles Descôtes and for the overall beautiful cinematography and portrayal of the harvest in Champagne.
