James Suckling’s Great Wines World Asia tour, held from Oct 2 to 9, was its largest event ever in the region, drawing more than 7,300 attendees the key wine cities of Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Bangkok. This year marked the first time the event was held in Tokyo, where local wine merchants had expressed concerns that younger people might not participate. However, the event attracted a significant number of attendees in their 20s and 30s, underscoring the vitality of the Japanese wine market among young consumers.
The other three cities saw the usual vibrant and unique crowds of wine enthusiasts, making each market stand out. Nearly 250 wineries from around the globe, particularly from France, Italy, the United States, Chile and Argentina, were delighted with the turnout. They not only showcased their wines but also engaged in business activities. The wineries are already looking forward to next year’s Great Wines World Asia tour, which will begin in Hong Kong on Oct 31 and conclude in Bangkok on Nov 7, with stops in Seoul (Nov 3) and Tokyo (Nov 5). Check out all our events in 2025!
