(NEW YORK) I had a half bottle of 2006 Jean-Marc Morey Santenay La Comme Dessus last week at Momofuku Ssam Bar here in New York during a late and delicious lunch break from the studio. We are putting the finishing touches on a new album. Fortunately, we have been working closely with our esteemed colleague Mr. Zdar, so we have been sticking to his French work ethic of strong coffee and lengthy sit-down lunches.
The red Burgundy was really good actually, especially when you don’t expect much out of a restaurant half bottle. I can’t say the spicy cuisine did the wine any favors. But still, after properly cleansing the palate, this was surprisingly ready to rock — ripe fruits, earthy notes, even a little bit of refined funk. Elegant and restrained with well-balanced tension. 93 points.

It was interesting to understand that your wine pasion originated or was passed down from your father.
Though my dad never had any '66 Lafite kicking around to share (far from it), there was always wine at he table for dinner. Even if much of it came in a brown glass1 gallon jug I can still remember that, no matter what we were drinking that my curiousity was peaked!
It realy wasn't until we had a Marques de Riscal and a Nipozzano in the early eighties, that I developped a passion for wine...Even if I had no means to truly dive in head/nose first, I continued to buy affordable wines and drink them with almost every dinner.
I have since moved up the scale as resources have permitted, but I still drink these wines on regular basis.
Every time I open a bottle of Nipozzano (which seems to be better than ever) I think back to my first humble exposure to wine and my ensuing passion. Thanks Dad!
Note: He now thinks i'm crazy to spend the money I do on wine but he is always blown away when he comes for dinner and I open some fine Brunellos.
