Great Wines of Italy 2015 – New York City – Event Recap

February 2, 2015 @ 1:05 pm

Warnings of a historic blizzard preceded Great Wines of Italy in New York City on January 26, but for those who braved the snow (which ended up being merely a few inches), 91 of Italy’s top wineries were on-hand at the IAC Building with their best wines in tow. The fluffy snow seen through the floor-to-ceiling windows on one side, with the impressive video wall showing clips of participating wineries and Italian landscapes on the other, made for a lovely setting.

Despite the weather, more than 350 people filled the venue to taste the nearly 180 wines on display. With all wines having been scored 90 points or more by James, it was hard for many to choose a favorite!

Patrons were happy to cozy up to the winemakers on this chilly evening to find out more about what was in their glass, and Rob Moose of Bon Iver also entertained the crowd with his violin. The wonderful cheese and meat spread rounded out the experience, which was a night that won’t soon be forgotten. The whole event warmed the hearts and souls of everyone; there was even a 100-foot video screen playing movies from the great vineyards of Italy.
