Giacomo Neri, owner and winemaker of Casanova di Neri, is certain that the quality of the 2010 vintage was dictated by the moderated climate that prevailed throughout the season. As his son and assistant winemaker Giovanni Neri explains, it was a combination of the quantity of rainfall during the spring, which hit the spot, and the not-so-hot summer months that extended the growing season, creating the perfect conditions for sangiovese to properly ripen.
Giacomo is convinced that it is one of the greatest vintages he has made in his lifetime; watch the video to find out about the 2010 from one of the great masters of Brunello. Also be sure to see James' 2010 Brunello tasting report.
