Champagne: Louis Roederer – The Style of the House

Founded in 1776, Maison Louis Roederer, is historically one of the most important houses in Champagne. Once official wine supplier of the Imperial Russian Court, by appointment to Tsar Nicholas II, Roederer has always sought prestigious distribution outside of France. Today, it is one of the few Champagne houses to remain in family hands. Another distinction of the famous estate is that most of the grapes in their wines come from Roederer's own holdings.  This is rare among the big Champagne houses, and translates into more control in the vineyard, hence greater ability to achieve consistency and quality in the grapes.
