At number 10, Antoine Roland-Billecart, GM and export manager as well as co-owner of Billecart-Salmon, explains what is it that makes a Champagne great. For him a great Champagne, like any great wine, is about the place where it is made and the people who make it. In Champagne, as he explains, there are exceptional sites that deliver unique expressions.
What Antoine highlights here is that Champagne is about the varieties and the site where these are grown. In its own way, Champagne has the ability to communicate a distinct terroir right to the glass – and, like anywhere else, great terroirs and craftsmanship make compelling wines.
