Brunello 2010: La Rasina

Located on the southeastern slopes of Montalcino, the family-run La Rasina was founded in the 1970s. However, it wasn't until the late 1990s that the wines took a qualitative leap that has consistently lasted until today. The estate is run by owner and winemaker Marco Mantengoli (featured in the video) who is also largely responsible for the shift in quality the estate underwent.

In this video, Marco explains the principles behind the 2010 vintage’s superb quality. According to him, from the moment veraison commenced, the weather remained stable with warm days and relatively cool nights. The homogeneous weather created the perfect conditions for the linear, slow yet steady, almost perfect maturation achieved in 2010. In the end, this produced wines of great power and concentration as well as freshness and elegance – all in quasi-perfect harmony.
