Located in the northwest side of Montalcino, the tiny estate of San Polino produces beautiful hand-crafted Brunellos, which James describes as “luscious and balanced”. Luigi Fabbro, owner and winemaker at San Polino, is cautious to say that 2010 is the vintage of a lifetime, but is convinced about the unique and outstanding quality of the vintage.
For Luigi, the ripeness of the tannins is key in making a great wine and 2010 achieved that optimal level of ripeness. It is also a powerful wine, continues Luigi, where everything seems to be in balance. “We seem to have hit the sweet spot,” he concludes.
