If you watched one of our most recent videos, "Gagliole: From Banker To Winemaker" you'll know all about Thomas Baer. Previously chairman of Julius Baer bank, Thomas left his life in finance to make wine in Tuscany, buying a small estate called Gagliole in Chianti Classico.
Last week Thomas and his son Andreas came to Hong Kong to showcase their wines to high-end Asian consumers at a tasting and dinner, "Investing In Europe – And Making Fine Wine" hosted by Hong Kong Tatler and James. Both men drew interesting comparisons between the economic and oenological state of affairs in Italy and Europe at large.
You probably haven't thought of investing in Europe or trying wines from Gagliole, but this all the more reason to start doing so, they argued. Europe is just coming out of recession, they pointed out, and with such scores as 95, 94 and 96, they seem to have a case for stocking up on Gagliole too!
